Youth In Radio Training Project
The Community Radio Youth website provides information about NFCB's National
Youth in Radio Training Project, Let a Thousand Voices Speak, the NFCB
youth manual, and Get Set to Stream!, the NFCB Streaming Manual which was
written specifically for youth programs.
Talking History
Talking History, based at the University at Albany, State University of New
York, is a production, distribution, and instructional center for all forms
of "aural" history. Our mission is to provide teachers, students,
researchers and the general public with as broad and outstanding a
collection of audio documentaries, speeches, debates, oral histories,
conference sessions, commentaries, archival audio sources, and other aural
history resources as is available anywhere.
Youth Portraits
A group of young adults who served time on Rikers Island decided they had a
story to tell. For eight months, they worked side by side with Sound
Portraits producers to create short documentaries about their lives.
Radio Arte
Radio Arte, a youth initiative of the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum, is an
educational radio station that has served the Pilsen/ Little Village
neighborhood of Chicago for over 6 years. Radio Arte trains, motivates and
encourages youth to develop self-expression through the broadcast medium.

leadership, is the only national distributor of Spanish-language
programming in public radio.

Sound Portraits
Sound Portraits's radio documentaries (broadcast on National Public Radio's
All Things Considered and Weekend Edition) are audio profiles of men and
women surviving in the margins. Told with care and dignity, the work
depicts the lives of Americans living in communities often neglected or
misunderstood. Sound Portraits frequently collaborates with people living
in these hard-to-access corners of America, giving them tape recorders and
microphones and helping them tell their own stories.
